RESPECTING OUR
OCEAN FRIENDS
We can’t guarantee what you’ll see on the day but you might spot some local residents like green sea turtles, eels, octopus, triggerfish, butterflyfish, surgeonfish, urchins, and rays. Keep your eyes peeled for the famous Humuhumunukunukuapua’a fish (we just call it humuhumu for short!). We respect all wild animals; we don’t touch or annoy them during our tours.
Whales are regular visitors to Maui from December through April. Federal law prohibits approaching North Pacific Humpbacks within 100 yards.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY
7:15 am meet your guide at the designated Makena Landing meet point. All waiver documents, gear issues, and on land safety briefings are required prior to entering
the ocean.
Before we hit the water, we’ll start with a brief land tutorial including the basics of kayaking, pointers on paddling technique, rules and regulations, and a rough plan for
the morning.
TIME TO PADDLE
Your guide will assist you in launching your kayak. Once all kayaks are afloat, time to go search for whales.
PADDLE TO THE BEST SNORKEL SPOT
An experienced guide provides local knowledge for finding the best snorkeling spots for hat given days conditions. A teachable moment is never ignored. An experienced, knowledgeable guide is key to THE ULTIMATE MAUI EXPERIENCE “Green Paddling Blue Water”!
TIME TO SNORKEL
Following your whale search, you will be guided to a snorkel site. Your guide will strategically locate a sandy spot on the floor of the ocean to safely set an anchor. To exit the kayak, simply slide off the side of your boat and become one with the ocean. Witness her beautiful fish, splendid corals, and Hawaiian Green sea turtles. Slide back onto your boat and paddle back to Makena Landing.

GREEN PADDLING |
BLUE WATER
Green Paddling Blue Water represents our core values of Sustainable Tourism and Education. We aim to operate our business in a way that ‘leaves no trace’ on the environment. On our tours, we promote the use of sun protective clothing and hats to minimize the use of sunscreen which can have a damaging effect on our reefs. Please keep this in mind when preparing for your tour. If you must use sunscreen, please apply it before you arrive to allow sufficient time to soak into your skin.
Your guide will help you safely land. Once on shore, all gear will be checked in. Showers and bathrooms are available in the parking area. Don’t forget it’s HIP TO TIP!
